ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL VOLUNTARY CHOIR
There are sometimes vacancies in this mixed adult choir for singers aged 16 and over. This minimum age limit may sometimes be waived for ex-choristers who wish to continue singing in the Cathedral.
Applicants should be good sight-readers, preferably with previous experience of Anglican church music, and prepared to commit to attending the majority of scheduled choir dates during the year (exceptions to this rule are negotiable, depending on your personal circumstances; please ask).
Former boy and girl choristers, choral scholars, lay clerks, etc, are particularly welcome, as well as others wishing to gain more experience of this repertoire.
All successful applicants aged 18 and over will be required to obtain CRB clearance before taking up their place in the choir.
The choir maintains a varied schedule of services in the cathedral throughout the year, but there is no commitment to regular weekly rehearsals.
In addition to our duties in the cathedral there are concerts and services elsewhere in the Diocese and beyond, and foreign tours (four each to the USA and Germany already); our most recent tour to the States took place in April 2010, and negotiations are under way for a possible return to Seattle next summer.
For more information about the choir, or to arrange an audition, please contact the choir’s Director, Douglas Henn-Macrae:
