Under the general oversight of Scott Farrell (Cathedral Director of Music), the choir is conducted by the Director of the Voluntary Choir, currently Douglas Henn-Macrae.
Douglas was previously Senior Lay Clerk in the Cathedral Choir, which he first joined as a Supernumerary Lay Clerk in 1970 after coming down from Bristol University with an honours degree in music. He has also spent 20 years as a parish organist/choirmaster in the area, including 17 years at St Faith’s Maidstone.
The choir is normally accompanied by either the Cathedral Organist, Roger Sayer; the Sub-Organist, Dan Soper; or by the Director of Music, Scott Farrell. If none of the “Home Team” organists are available, we are glad to be able to call on the services of Jason Smart (who has accompanied all our foreign tours), Bryan Gipps, Rod Spencer or Gavin Williams.
